One published price per type of work — $5, $10, $15, $20 or $25 — shown on the job before you pay, and it never changes on a job you are looking at.
There is no subscription, no lead fee, no charge to appear higher, and no charge for being contacted. You are only ever charged for a job you took.

One contractor per job
Accepting closes the job. Nobody else can accept it and nobody else is charged for it, so there is no race and nobody to argue with about who got hired.
If it does not work out
If the customer goes quiet, the job was not real, or it was not what the post said — say so within 24 hours of accepting and pick the reason from a list. You write nothing and argue with nobody.
We ask the customer whether you got in touch, and ask once more the next day if they do not answer. If they say no, or never answer, the money goes back. That is the whole process, and none of it is work for you.
What a refund costs you
A refunded job produces no review. So refunding costs you nothing in money and does cost you progress — your rating cannot go up from a job you refunded.
That is the whole trade, and it is why nobody has to adjudicate a claim. What we look at is a pattern over many jobs, never a single request.

Contractor accounts are not open yet, so nothing on this page can be charged to anyone today. The terms are settled; taking money is not switched on.
